Both Have Two Reamers
Both juicers come with two interchangeable reamers that let you juice fruits of different sizes. There is a small reamer for small fruits like limes and lemons and a bigger reamer for larger fruits like grapefruits. Therefore, with both the Black & Decker CJ625 and Epica Whisper-quiet users can enjoy a variety of juice flavors with ease. One simply has to switch the reamer depending on the size of fruit to be juiced. The reamers of both juicers are standardly-sized to accommodate any type of citrus fruit.
Simple and Compact Design
The Black & Decker CJ625 and Epica Juicer do not take up lots of counter space. They both have a simple and compact design with few controls or complicated parts. They are both straightforward appliances that do not need any technical skill to operate. Users of either appliances can therefore enjoy stress-free juicing and reduced juicing time. The ease of use can also be attributed to the fact that the juicers have few parts which are easy to assemble and disassemble.
Pouring Spout and Strainer
To minimize wastage and mess, the juicers both feature a pouring spout for easy transfer of the juice. However, the spouts slightly differ in design with that of the Epica Juicer featuring a flip-up design and that of the Black and Decker being molded onto the juicer container. Additionally, both juicers include a strainer to catch fruit pulp and stop it from getting into the juice. The effectiveness of the strainer is not the same in both appliances but serves the same function.
Construction and Materials
The first difference to spot between the Black & Decker and the Epica juicer is the choice of materials used in construction. The CJ625 is majorly made from plastic while the Epica features stainless steel in a great part of its construction with a few plastic parts. The CJ625 is basically a plastic pitcher with the motor on the base and a stem extending upwards to the reamer and the strainer. All squeezed juice is collected in the pitcher which is made from durable plastic and has easy to read measurements. The Epica juicer on the hand has its motor housed in a stainless steel body with the reamer and the strainer at the top. A pouring spout is included just below the reamers and strainer to drain off the extracted juice to a container of choice.
There is a pulp control mechanism on both juicers. However, that of the CJ625 is adjustable while that of the Epica is not. The CJ625 Juicer features two perforated donut shaped discs that determine how much or little pulp gets into the juice by toggling the pulp control switch. The Epica on the other hand simply relies on its fine mesh strainer to control amount of pulp getting into the juicer. With the CJ625 users can make juice to their preference with the amount of pulp they desire while the Epica only gives you a single option on how much or how little pulp you get.
The Black & Decker juice has an auto-reversing reamer to ensure maximum extraction from each fruit by rotating in two opposite directions. On pushing a fruit down on the Black and Decker, the motor begins to rotate and when you release the pressure and the re-apply it, the reamer rotates in the opposite direction ensuring the fruit is fully processed. The Epica juicer on the other hand has uni-lateral rotation that is it rotates on only one side.
Motor Power and Noise Levels
The Black & Decker CJ625 operates on a 30 watt motor while the Epica Juice runs on a 70 watt motor. This gives the two juices different juicing powers which could affect the quality of the final yield. With the Epica running on more power, it easy to assume that it would make the most noise but contrary to that it is the quiet of the two while in operation. Its motor and housing are designed to musk any noises to ensure quiet operation unlike the Black & Decker juices which produces an annoying mechanical use that interferes with the peace in the house.
Parts of the Black & Decker can be cleaned in the dishwasher while that of the Epica are cleaned by hand. However, this difference may not be significant considering that both juicers are easy to rinse off and will not give you trouble cleaning even if it is by hand.
Drawing the line between this two juicers can be a difficult task considering that they both perform really well in their respective categories. The Epica juicer is great for those that prefer to prepare their juice right into a drinking glass. It can also be ideal for preparing large amounts of juice as you can choose an ideal container that will not require constant draining before you are finished. This is unlike the CJ625 which comes with a limited-capacity pitcher that only allows you to prepare a certain amount of juice at a time. From user reviews, both juicers provide satisfying juice yield and quality. However, if you want a juicer that can last extended juicing hours the Epica has proven to be more robust and durable. Finally, if on a tight budget, the CJ625 performs well for the price giving you value for your money.
